time…So be quick to gladden the hearts of those who travel with
us.
And make haste to be kind.” ---- Irish Proverb

Article on the Woodrum's
Garden, May 2007 issue
|
This old
saying expresses the exuberant enthusiasm Mary Alice
and Bear Woodrum have for sharing with others their garden and the
nurturing love it represents. And they are eager to show us their
recent additions! We’ll also be sharing our explorations of tasting
wines and foods---and their matches. Join us this evening as we share
our delight in the pleasures of nature, of wine and food---and of one
another’s good companionship.
The evening will be casual, unstructured and
informal. We’ll be
free to explore this whimsical garden created by Mary Alice and Bear
and to explore these delightful wines selected by Dale and Sue Siliko.
We’ll have cheeses and fruit and French bread---and an assortment of
appetizers. That’s your contribution to the spirit of sharing for this
evening. |
You are
invited to bring an appetizer. Your appetizer will enable our food and
wine matching explorations. Translate “appetizer” loosely: something
delicious and wine-friendly that can be divided into many small
portions and does not require knife and fork. (This is not a dinner;
you should have something to eat before you come.)
If you will bring an “appetizer”
to share, please tell us when you make your reservation what you
are bringing---no
later than May 8 if at all possible. Give a brief description if the
name does not make clear what it is; we would like to make some wine
pairing suggestions. (If you can, bring some copies of your
recipe to share to the tasting.) Sue Siliko is
co-ordinating appetizers. Call Sue if you would like more info or
sugestions. 803 279-5217
Here’s additional practical advice. Use
and bring mosquito repellent. Despite the citronella candles, the pesky
creatures are certain to be with us, also wanting to share. Wear
comfortable shoes and casual clothing. You may wish to bring a
flashlight to help guide you back to your car. We’ll keep this date,
rain or shine. If it rains, we gather on the spacious deck and/or in
the kitchen. If you want to gladden the hearts of Mary Alice and Bear,
bring them empty, used wine bottles for their garden projects.
