Wine Selections

Sauvignon Blanc Michel Lynch   Bordeaux, France
Green apples & grass with attractive mineral notes.  Grapefruit, greimageen melon & lime notes. Matches well  with seafood, chicken, pasta. Grilled fish with asparagus.
Its citrus notes work well with Greek & Mexican cuisines.
Garlic shrimp with avocado.

Bukettrabe 2013
      Cederberg Wine Cellars

                           South Africa

Made from a rare grape variety, this wine is a wonderful surprise.  Just lightly, lightly sweet, very fresh, with a hint of Muscat character.  Floral & citrus aromas, lime blossom and honeysuckle lead to flavors imageof apricot & peach. Very  refreshing  finish. This wine has received some very high marks. When we tasted at the South African seminar last fall, we were all very impressed & delighted.  It was one of the "most-ordered" wines of the evening.  Fine match for chicken,  turkey, pork, seafood.   Lightly spicy Asian-style dishes or fusion cuisine. Aperitif.

    Riesling, Clean Slate 2012

         Mosel, Germany
Pleasing aromas of ripe granny smith apple, pear, and spice. Lightly sweet flavorsimage of peach, honeydew melon, pear with lime notes and minerality. Refreshing acidity with a lingering finish.  Thin slate stones in the vineyard  retain heat and reflect them towards the vines to ripen the grapes and provide subtle mineral flavors.  A good match with spicy foods and Asian cuisine. Shrimp. Traditional German dishes such as bratwurst, knockwurst, and weisswurst, esp. with sauerkraut or red cabbage. Cajun.
Shrimp and grits

Red Blend, Drops of Jupiter
Save Me, San Francisco Wine Company
                                  California

This fruit-forward, full-bodied red blend is the product of a collaboration between Jimmy Stafford of the rock band Train and winemaker James Foster at Concannon.  It's
a Petite Sirah-based blend with soft,
image
supple tannins and rich blackberry, boysenberry fruit.
The wine is produced under the label of  the Save Me San Francisco Wine Company (which makes donations to Family House Inc).  (Their Chardonnay is named for another  Train song "Calling All Angels,") Give ’em credit for knowing where to go for really good Petite Sirah. Concannon is a first-rate PS producer (and the first California winery to produce a Petite Sirah as a separate varietal),  This an affordable beauty with big fruit and beautiful flavors. Hearty dishes. Steaks, burgers. lamb kebobs, moussaka, ratatouille, grilled eggplant. Eggplant lasagna. Dark, dark chocolate cake. Aged Gouda.
  One of our very favorites!

Truant Old Vines Zinfandel
Four Vines

               California
  A longtime favorite!
Four Vines now calls its Old Vines Cuvee "Truant" and suggests its "wine character."  Truant breaks out of its routine everday confines, and geographical confines.  It's blended fro
imagem multiple appellations throughout California.    77% Zinfandel, 13% Syrah and a little Petite Sirah, Barbera and Sangiovese. Enticing aromas
of dark berries and spicy oak.
Flavors of juicy blackberry, ripe plum and a touch of blueberry. "Generous in fruit flavors, plenty of structure and a velvety finish."
Grilled steak, sausages, burgers.  Chili.  Korean BBQ. Vegetable Casseroles. Robust cheeses.
